What we found

Lufthansa’s online shareholder services offer meeting invitations, attendance, voting and access to share register details. They list no flight discount, lounge access or status benefit for holding LHA shares.

Lufthansa describes Miles & More as a customer loyalty programme in its 2025 annual report.

Prize draws for email invitations

Lufthansa invited shareholders to “register, win and take off” in its draws for email delivery of annual meeting invitations in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Entry depended on registration: participants had to remain signed up for email delivery and hold shares in the share register on each year’s closing date. Holding more shares did not improve their odds.

From free flights to vouchers

The 2017 and 2018 draws each offered five prizes of return flights for two people, 20 cabin trolleys and 20 model aircraft. In 2019, Lufthansa listed “5×2 flight vouchers for a Lufthansa flight worth €250”, alongside the same numbers of trolleys and models.

The flights and vouchers covered return journeys within Lufthansa’s European network, with a Lufthansa flight number and aircraft, in Economy Class and subject to availability. Winners paid their own airport travel and other trip costs.

Why Lufthansa keeps a share register

Lufthansa has used registered shares since September 1997 to demonstrate the ownership required for its air traffic rights. It also uses the register to send meeting invitations itself. At the end of 2025, Lufthansa had 529,000 shareholders, and private individuals held 44% of the shares.
