100 shares qualify for three vouchers at each March and September record date, each for one one-way domestic flight. Half the ordinary fare is not always the cheapest ticket.
From 100 sharesStarFlyer is a Japanese airline based at Kitakyushu Airport. It flies domestic routes including Kitakyushu–Tokyo Haneda and Fukuoka–Tokyo Haneda.
What you get
Each voucher gives 50% off the adult ordinary fare for one person on one one-way domestic sector. StarFlyer issues three vouchers per 100 shares at each record date, so 100 shares held at both dates earn six vouchers a year.
Children and airport charges
Children aged 2–11 receive 50% off the adult shareholder fare under the fare rules. Airport passenger facility charges are added where applicable.
A voucher does not reserve a seat
StarFlyer limits the seats sold at this fare, and some flights offer none. The voucher’s printed validity period must cover the flight date.
What it takes
You need at least 100 StarFlyer ordinary shares listed in Tokyo. Ownership date: StarFlyer counts holdings on 31 March and 30 September each year. New buyers must complete their purchase by the last trading day with entitlement.

Before buyingA perk is a minor benefit of owning a share, not a reason to buy one. Share prices fall as well as rise, and dealing costs, spreads and tax can exceed a perk’s value. Read about the risks.
Holding through a broker
Shares must be registered in your own name.
Under Japan’s airline foreign-ownership rules, StarFlyer can refuse registration if foreign voting rights would reach one third. Its shareholder information does not say how close it is to that limit or confirm an overseas pooled-nominee delivery route. Ask your provider about registration and voucher delivery; no broker service has been tested.

Practical notes
Changes stay within the voucher dates
Before the booked flight departs, you can change it within the voucher’s validity on the same route and fare. The passenger’s name cannot change, and a fare difference may be payable. Travel outside the voucher period requires a refund and a new booking with a valid voucher; refund charges apply.
Using a refunded voucher again
After a ticket refund, the same benefit number and password can be used again only while the voucher remains valid.
Company story
An airline and a new airport
StarFlyer began its Kitakyushu–Haneda service in March 2006, as the relocated Kitakyushu Airport opened. The airline had started life as Kobe Airlines in 2002 before changing its name and moving to Kitakyushu. It listed in Tokyo in December 2011.
