SoftBank Corp

PayPay Money Lite

What shareholders get ¥1,000 100 shares or more

SoftBank Corp provides mobile, fixed-line and internet services. It is the telecom company listed under stock code 9434; SoftBank Group, listed under 9984, is a different company.

What you get

SoftBank gives qualifying holders ¥1,000 in PayPay Money Lite, a balance in the PayPay smartphone payment app. The amount is the same for every holding of at least 100 shares. You must apply and link a PayPay account; a SoftBank mobile contract is not required.

Spendable balance, with limits

PayPay Money Lite can pay for eligible purchases at PayPay merchants and online stores. It cannot be withdrawn to a bank account or used for tax bills. It is a payment balance, not PayPay points.

What it takes

You need at least 100 SoftBank Corp ordinary shares listed in Tokyo (9434) on 31 March or 30 September at the end of the one-year holding period.

Minimum holding period: At least one year with 100 or more shares, under the same shareholder number on three consecutive March and September registers. For a new holding, the year starts at the first 31 March or 30 September register to record it.

A linked PayPay account and a smartphone that can receive SMS. PayPay does not accept overseas mobile numbers.

Before buyingA perk is a minor benefit of owning a share, not a reason to buy one. Share prices fall as well as rise, and dealing costs, spreads and tax can exceed a perk’s value. Read about the risks.

Holding through a broker

Shares must be registered in your own name.

SoftBank Corp checks its shareholder register. Its published terms do not confirm an overseas pooled-nominee route. Ask your broker whether your holding reaches that register and whether you receive SoftBank’s dividend statement, which carries the shareholder number needed to apply; we have not tested a broker route.

SoftBank Corp does not say whether overseas shareholders can claim.

Practical notes

The first application deadlines have passed

SoftBank’s first qualifying year began on 31 March 2025. Holders who completed that year and applied by 31 March 2026 were scheduled for payment in May 2026. The September cycle ran from 30 September 2025 to 30 September 2026, with applications due on 30 September 2026 and payment scheduled for November 2026. Holders who missed either deadline can still apply; SoftBank moves them to the next record date. A new holding must complete its own register test.

A parent can receive a child’s balance

A shareholder under 18 who has no smartphone can use a parent’s or other representative’s PayPay account under SoftBank’s procedure. If that representative is also a shareholder, they must complete their own application first.

Company story

From mobile calls to phone payments

Vodafone’s Japanese mobile business joined the SoftBank group in April 2006 and became SoftBank Mobile that October. The company took its current name, SoftBank Corp, in 2015.

PayPay launched its smartphone payment service in October 2018, two months before SoftBank Corp listed in Tokyo. The shareholder benefit gives holders a way to use that payment service, even if their mobile contract is with another network.
