Ryanair
Shareholder travel benefits
A Ryanair shareholder flight discount or travel benefit remains unconfirmed. UK and other non-EU nationals can own its shares, but cannot attend, speak or vote at shareholder meetings.
Non-EU holders have no vote
Ryanair lifted its ban on non-EU nationals buying ordinary shares on 7 March 2025. UK and other non-EU nationals can hold its Dublin shares or its Nasdaq depositary shares, but they have been barred from attending, speaking or voting at shareholder meetings since 1 January 2021. Ryanair may bring back the purchase ban to keep at least 20% of its issued share capital in EU hands.
For these rules, Ryanair includes nationals of Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein within its definition of EU nationals. Its 2026 Form 20-F says EU nationals held 30% of its issued share capital at 31 March 2026 and were entitled to exercise 100% of the voting rights.
The shares left London in 2021
Ryanair UK is an airline within the group; the listed parent’s ordinary shares trade as RYA on Euronext Dublin. Its London listing ended on 20 December 2021. Nasdaq trades its American Depositary Shares as RYAAY; each represents two ordinary shares.

O’Leary’s answer to frequent flyers
Michael O’Leary gave a blunt answer about customer loyalty schemes in April 2024. As Simon Calder reported in The Independent, he said: “If you want something loyal, buy a dog.” O’Leary argued that passengers already saved money through Ryanair’s low fares.
