AEON

Owners Card shopping rebate, Long-term shareholder gift card

What shareholders get 1–7% back on shopping

Present the card before paying and use an accepted payment method. Other credit cards do not earn the rebate.

Plus 1 other benefit

AEON Co., Ltd. is the Japanese holding company behind a group spanning shops, shopping centres, financial services and other consumer businesses. Its Owners Card works across selected group stores, including AEON and MaxValu.

What you get

The Owners Card rewards regular shopping with a rebate every six months. The payment method matters as much as the shop: an ordinary non-AEON credit card does not qualify. Long-term holders can also receive a separate annual gift card.

Owners Card shopping rebate

AEON’s Owners Card returns 1%–7% of eligible spending, according to your shareholding. The rebate covers up to ¥1 million of purchases every six months, including purchases on the family card. The 100-share tier returns 1%; 300 shares qualify for 3%.

Long-term shareholder gift card

AEON gives qualifying long-term shareholders an annual gift card worth ¥1,000–¥10,000. The gift card is separate from the Owners Card shopping rebate.

Before buyingA perk is a minor benefit of owning a share, not a reason to buy one. Share prices fall as well as rise, and dealing costs, spreads and tax can exceed a perk’s value. Read about the risks.

Holding through a broker

Shares must be registered in your own name.

AEON requires the qualifying holding to appear in your own name on its shareholder register. Its public terms do not confirm an overseas pooled-nominee route. Ask your broker whether your name reaches that register and whether it delivers benefit documents; we have not tested its service.

AEON does not say whether overseas shareholders can claim.

Practical notes

Owners Card shopping rebate

The 5% shopping days can combine

At participating stores, the Owners Card also qualifies for the Customer Appreciation Day discount on the 20th and 30th of each month. The shopping rebate applies to the amount left after that 5% discount, when you use a qualifying payment method.

The app is optional

The shareholder can register with AEON Owners Club in the iAEON app and choose cash or WAON POINT rewards. Electronic delivery plus WAON POINT rewards brings payment forward to late March and late September. The family member cannot register, and some businesses accept the physical card but not its app version.

The card has other uses

Selected restaurants, specialist retailers and cinemas offer discounts or preferential prices when you present the card. Those transactions do not also earn the shopping rebate. Check AEON’s current participating-store list for each business’s terms.

Keep eligibility at the next record date

A holding below 100 shares or a changed shareholder number at the next February or August record date invalidates the existing cards from 1 March or 1 September. Buying again may require new cards.

Company story

The shop moved with its customers

One of AEON’s predecessors, Okadaya, began in Yokkaichi in 1758. In 1887 the shop moved from its original site to a new shopping district. AEON’s history treats that move as an early example of following customers as their habits changed.

Okadaya also adopted marked prices when bargaining was common, so customers paid on the same terms.
