Restaurant vouchers

What shareholders get Restaurant vouchers from ¥2,000 From 100 shares

Skylark Holdings runs Japanese restaurant chains including Gusto, Bamiyan, Jonathan’s and Shabu-yo. Its brands span family dining, Chinese food, hot pot and other meals.

What you get

The restaurant voucher works on paper or on a phone, and you can combine it with coupons. Eligible meals must be paid for at the restaurant till.

Skylark sends restaurant vouchers worth ¥2,000 twice a year to holders of 100–299 shares. Larger holdings receive up to ¥17,000 each time. The ticket reduces an eligible restaurant bill in one-yen steps, so you can spend its balance over several meals.

What it takes

You need at least 100 Skylark Holdings shares listed in Tokyo (3197). Ownership date: Skylark counts your holding separately on 30 June and 31 December each year.

Before buyingA perk is a minor benefit of owning a share, not a reason to buy one. Share prices fall as well as rise, and dealing costs, spreads and tax can exceed a perk’s value. Read about the risks.

Holding through a broker

Shares must be registered in your own name.

Skylark determines entitlement from its shareholder register. Its public terms do not confirm an overseas pooled-nominee or foreign-address route. Ask your broker whether your registration qualifies and whether you receive the mailed ticket; we have not tested its service.

Skylark Holdings does not say whether overseas shareholders can claim.

Practical notes

Coupons can combine

You can combine the shareholder ticket with other coupons. The amount covered by the ticket earns no loyalty points and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Give part away or share the balance

The digital ticket lets you give someone a separate amount in ¥500 units by sending a link. You can also share access to the same balance with family. Keep the codes private: Skylark does not refund or replace value used without your permission.

Check the restaurant, not just the group name

Eligible operators include Skylark Restaurants, Tomato and Associates, Sukesan and Nilax. Some Nilax buffet locations are excluded. Shinpachi and Flo Japon do not accept the voucher.

Check the trading cutoff

The shareholder register dates are month end, but purchases must be completed earlier. Skylark instructs buyers to complete the trade at least two business days before the last business day of June or December. Confirm the deadline with your broker.

Company story

The bird came from a neighbourhood shop

Skylark began in 1962 as a small dried-fish shop in the Hibarigaoka housing estate. When the founders opened their first family restaurant in Fuchu in 1970, they chose the English word for hibari, the skylark, to remember that beginning.

Gusto followed in 1992. The group later added other restaurant businesses, including Sukesan in 2024. That variety is part of the voucher’s appeal: the same balance can pay towards different kinds of meal at participating brands.
