Company story

An engine before a parts business

George and Earl Holley came from Bradford, Pennsylvania. As teenagers, they learned to make patterns and castings so they could build a one-cylinder engine. They fitted it to a three-wheeled vehicle, then built motorised bicycles and a car called the Holley Motorette. The Henry Ford museum dates their first automotive company to 1896 and their carburettor manufacturing to 1903. Ford used Holley carburettors in its original Model A and later in the Model T; Buick, Winton and Pierce-Arrow were early customers too.

From the Thunderbird to home builds

Holley’s company history dates its Model 4150 four-barrel carburettor to the 1957 Ford Thunderbird. Fuel injection joined its range in the 1980s. The company now sells systems that let enthusiasts replace a carburettor with electronic fuel injection. Holley’s 2023 shareholder announcement named LS Fest, MoParty and Ford Festival as places its community gathered.
