Bank Pekao
Pekao shareholder club (Klub Akcjonariusza)
Bank Pekao offers bank accounts, credit cards, currency exchange and brokerage services in Poland. Customers use its digital services through Pekao24 and the PeoPay app.
What you get
Pekao’s shareholder club, Klub Akcjonariusza Pekao, waives the monthly fee on its Żubr credit card from 100 shares and on its Świat Premium account from 250 shares. Members at both levels also get better rates at Pekao’s online currency exchange.
You must also bank with Pekao. The shares must sit in its own brokerage, each benefit needs the matching Pekao product, and the programme runs in Polish. Pekao sets out the benefits in a dated document called a benefit card (Karta Benefitów), separate from the Żubr credit card. The November 2026 benefit card ends on 30 November; anyone joining in November must wait for the next benefit card.
What it takes
You need at least 100 Bank Pekao shares. Ownership date: The last business day of each month, for the following month.
Gold
100–249 shares
- Żubr credit-card monthly fee waived Covers the credit card’s Gold package. Pekao lists it at 19 zł a month or 0 zł after at least 2,000 zł of credit-card spending in a month. Other ordinary product conditions can also waive the fee without club membership. The waiver on the credit card’s Platinum package needs the Platinum club tier.
- Better exchange rates Kantor Pekao24, the currency-exchange service in Pekao24, gives club members better rates than its standard ones. The benefit card and rules do not state the margin or saving.
Platinum
250+ shares
- Żubr credit-card monthly fee waived Covers the Gold and Platinum credit-card packages. Pekao lists the Platinum package at 39 zł a month or 0 zł after at least 3,000 zł of credit-card spending in a month. Other ordinary product conditions can also waive the fee without club membership. The Gold package has the separate fee and spending condition shown above.
- Better exchange rates Club members at this tier also get better Kantor Pekao24 rates. The benefit card and rules do not state the margin or saving.
- Świat Premium account monthly fee waived Pekao lists the account fee at 50 zł a month. Independent waivers include the first 3 full months after opening the account and a condition requiring at least 200,000 zł in bank assets in the previous month. Other time-limited promotions can also waive it. These alternatives mean the club waiver is not a guaranteed extra saving; other product charges remain separate.
Both tiers require an active Biuro Maklerskie Pekao investment account, a Pekao24 agreement, an email address and the relevant bank products. Some products require a separate contract.
Before buyingA perk is a minor benefit of owning a share, not a reason to buy one. Share prices fall as well as rise, and dealing costs, spreads and tax can exceed a perk’s value. Read about the risks.
Holding through a broker
Pekao counts only shares in an active investment account at Biuro Maklerskie Pekao, its own brokerage. An account under notice of closure does not qualify, and neither does a pooled account or the issue sponsor’s register. Shares at another broker or through a foreign nominee do not count. Only the Pekao brokerage account with the most shares counts; holdings across accounts do not combine.
Other conditions
- Where the benefit applies
- The programme operates in Poland and in Polish.
- Age and residency
- Resident and non-resident adults may join as consumers if they have full legal capacity. The rules do not say whether Pekao will open the required accounts for a particular non-resident; confirm that before moving shares.
- Excluded holders
- People who only hold a power of attorney over the investment account.
- Joint holdings
- Each joint investment-account holder may join separately.
How to claim
Pekao checks settled shares in its own brokerage records. You must consent to the brokerage sharing confidential account data with other bank units; withdrawing that consent ends your membership.
- 1. Check your Pekao accountsConfirm that you hold an eligible investment account at Biuro Maklerskie Pekao and have a Pekao24 agreement. Ask Pekao about account opening if you do not. You can join the club before owning shares; benefits depend on the monthly shareholding check.
- 2. Join in Pekao24 or PeoPayMembership is free. Log in to Pekao24 (online banking) or PeoPay (the mobile app), open the shareholder-club section, complete the registration form, accept the programme rules and benefit card, and give the required data-sharing consent. Pekao emails confirmation and stores it in Pekao24 e-Documents.
- 3. Check your monthly tierPekao24 and PeoPay show your participation tier after the monthly holding check. Read the current benefit card in your participant area before relying on a fee waiver or exchange rate.
- 4. Hold the relevant productPekao applies benefits automatically when you meet the programme and product conditions. Some products need a separate contract, which you cannot sign at a Pekao partner branch. Check the product conditions before relying on a waiver. Pekao decides whether to issue the credit card after assessing your creditworthiness.
Dates
The published terms do not say how long you must hold the shares.
- Qualifying date
- The last business day of each month, for the following month.
- Continued eligibility
- Pekao counts settled shares, so a market purchase must be made at least two business days before the last business day of the month. Benefits begin on the first day of the month after joining, following a successful holding check. Entitlement ends if you cease to meet the conditions or the benefit card expires.
- Renewal
- Pekao must announce whether it will extend the programme at least 30 days before its scheduled end. The programme term does not extend an expired benefit card.
- Valid from
- Use the benefit by
The November benefit card runs from 1 to 30 November 2026.- Scheme end date
Practical notes
The benefit card expires before the programme
The November benefit card expires on 30 November 2026. Pekao’s programme runs to 20 May 2027, but its rules end benefit rights when a benefit card expires. Check the next benefit card rather than treating the programme end date as a promise of unchanged benefits.
A waiver is not a cash payment
The club removes selected monthly charges on products you use. It does not pay their value in cash. Your product contract and its ordinary fees can outlast your club benefits. Compare the full product tariff, brokerage charges and any ordinary fee-waiver conditions before estimating a saving.
Other customers may get the same promotion
Pekao’s benefit card says the bank extends existing promotions offered to other customer groups to club members. It does not name those groups. Ask Pekao whether you could qualify for the same waiver without holding shares.
Moving shares to Pekao’s brokerage
Pekao says you can transfer shares from another broker into its brokerage account. It does not say whether your current broker supports the transfer or what it charges, so ask that broker first.
Retirement accounts and mortgages remain unconfirmed
The rules do not say whether Polish IKE or IKZE retirement accounts at Pekao’s brokerage qualify. Pekao’s launch release and website mention a mortgage offer, but the November benefit card lists no mortgage benefit or usable mortgage terms; do not count on one.
Company story
Shareholders who also bank here
Pekao launched the club on 20 May 2026 and called it the first initiative of its kind in Polish banking. Chief executive Cezary Stypułkowski described shareholders as customers, brand ambassadors and participants in the bank’s long history. The launch release says the club is not meant to encourage share purchases; it supports investors who have already made an investment decision or plan to move shares to Pekao’s brokerage. The release also says brokerage clients who are only considering a purchase can join, with no shares needed at the start.
