ASICS makes sports shoes and other sporting goods. Its brands include ASICS and Onitsuka Tiger, and its headquarters are in Kobe.
What you get
ASICS sends ten electronic discount tickets each half-year. The entry tier gives 20% off eligible products; larger or longer-held shareholdings receive higher rates. Each ticket covers a purchase of up to ¥50,000 including tax. Orders must be delivered within Japan. ASICS revised these rates for holders on the 30 June 2026 register.
What it takes
You need at least 100 ASICS ordinary shares listed in Tokyo (7936) on 30 June or 31 December each year; each register date earns its own issue of tickets.
Minimum holding period: The entry tier has no minimum holding period. The three-year tier requires the same shareholder number on at least seven consecutive June and December registers.

Before buyingA perk is a minor benefit of owning a share, not a reason to buy one. Share prices fall as well as rise, and dealing costs, spreads and tax can exceed a perk’s value. Read about the risks.
Holding through a broker
Shares must be registered in your own name.
ASICS checks its shareholder register. Its published terms do not confirm an overseas pooled-nominee route. Ask your broker whether your holding reaches that register and whether it delivers the benefit documents; we have not tested a broker route.
ASICS does not say whether overseas shareholders can claim.

Practical notes
Two stores leave the scheme in 2026
ASICS Trading’s online store stopped selling on 30 September 2026 and left the programme the next day. The ASICS Walking online store takes orders until 23:59 on 30 October 2026 and leaves the programme on 31 October. ASICS and Onitsuka Tiger remain on the participating-store list.
A return does not restore the ticket
ASICS refunds the discounted price when goods are returned, but it does not reissue the ticket. It also prohibits ticket transfers outside the family and purchases for resale.
A changed shareholder number restarts the clock
ASICS says any change of shareholder number, whatever the cause, breaks the holding period. Broker transfers, stock lending, selling and repurchasing, or changes to registered personal details can cause a change; ask your securities company before relying on the long-term rate.
Company story
An octopus inspired a basketball sole
Kihachiro Onitsuka founded the business in Kobe in 1949. Its first competition shoe was a basketball model, released in 1950. ASICS’s history says an octopus dish inspired Onitsuka to improve its sole: a 1951 model used deep recesses like suckers. The grip proved too strong, so the company tested and refined the design with school basketball teams.
The ASICS name arrived in 1977, when Onitsuka merged with GTO and Jelenk. The shareholder tickets now span the ASICS and Onitsuka Tiger brands, which share that history.
